Do you have one of these insurances?

Ameritas, Physicians Mutual, Anthem, United Concordia, Guardian, Cigna, Wellmark/Blue Dental, Aetna

Question 2

Will my coverage change if you are not an in-network or “preferred” provider?

Accepted Answer

That is a great question!  Unfortunately, we do not have all the limitations on your contract with your insurance, but we will do our best to estimate your reimbursement based on the information that your insurance provides us. On most services, there is a small difference between in and out of network benefit coverages, as long as your insurance allows you to see a dentist of your choosing!

What can you expect from the insurance company?

The insurance company will strongly encourage you to switch to a preferred provider.  They have a vested interest and benefit financially when they do this.  Insurance companies are a business - their priority is NOT your dental health.

Question 4

Wait, there is still a dental benefit when a provider, such as Dr. Joe Zuccaro, is not a “preferred provider”?

Yes, insurance companies have traditionally not been transparent about this. There are a very small number plans that do not allow “out of network” benefits, but this is not typical.  With most services, there is a small difference between in and out of network benefit coverages.

Question 5

Wellmark/Blue Dental Insurance I receive my insurance check directly.  How does it work?

Some insurance companies pay the practice directly, and some reimburse the patient.  For private plans or employer chosen plans that utilize Wellmark, this insurance chooses to reimburse the patient.  The office will collect the full amount on the day of service, and your insurance will reimburse you directly, according to your contract, once claim is filed. The practice is legally contracted to collect for services as they are rendered.

Can I get an estimate of costs before my visits?

Yes - we are able to give our patients a very close estimate of benefits.  We do our best with what insurance companies will give to us prior to visits.   Our financial and insurance coordinators will continue to file your insurance on your behalf.

Can Dr. Joe Zuccaro and team still be my dentist?

Yes! We hope that you see our standard of care for your smile is higher than the insurance company.  We truly care about you and your dental health!

Why did you make this decision?

Accepted Answer

The insurance landscape is continually changing, and we feel it is NOT for improving overall dental health of our patients. We have always maintained a high standard of care for our patients, and because of the insurance’s shortcomings, we are unwilling to bargain or cut corners – We will not compromise on your care!
